Asura

Asurais a demi-god, the main character from the game named after him released by Capcom in 2012 on Xbox 360 and PS3 systems. Betrayed by his own kind and filled with a never-ending wrath, Asura is travelling over Gaea, looking for his missing daughter. On his way, he meets foes that his wrath will destroy.

With this statue, Asura is pictured furious, dismembering a Doji and about to land him lots of punches. His six arms are as many weapons for his foe that looks desperately to him. Asura is bare chested, he’s wearing is blue pants with bright red flames on it.

The artistic direction of this game and of the main character allows being bold. Indeed his outfit has both mat and glossy textures; his arms are metallic while his skin has this special effect on it. Sculpt-wise, the challenge was to bring the statue to express all the wrath and the might of Asura and to keep all the details from the game.

Background

Before dealing with the Doji is holding, Asura did get rid of numerous enemies… One among many is the Taison whom head and hand lies on the floor.

Taison and Doji also altern with with very different effects and have very different models. The sculpting is once more dealing very precisely to reproduce the game enemies in every detail. The shining metal of Taison oppose with the mate of Doki as mechanisms brings some weirdness to the while. Lastly, red jewels on the Taison’s rings brings a touch of color.. This base brings balance to the whole statue.

Base

Of course, the inevitable round base of all our HQS by Tsume is still there, but it has been altered very much and looks like it’s been carved in stone… as if it was a part of some antic ruin and it has, as Asura did, travelled through 12 000 years!
